The five things
A South African ID, or a valid permit if you are not a citizen. A clear photograph of the whole document, all four corners in the frame.
Your last three payslips. Payday loans are for employed people with a regular income, and the payslips are how that is shown.
Three months of bank statements for the account your income goes into. Not a screenshot of the balance: the actual statement, showing every transaction, with your name and account number on it.
A bank account in your own name. Not a partner's, not a parent's. The law requires the payout to go to the borrower.
A cellphone number that works and that you answer. Most delayed applications are delayed because nobody could reach the applicant.
Why the statements matter most
The affordability assessment is a legal requirement, and bank statements are what it is built on. They show what actually arrives and what actually leaves, which is the only honest basis for deciding what you can repay.
A payslip shows one month. Three months of statements show the pattern, including the expensive months, and that pattern is what tells both of you whether the repayment on payday is one you can comfortably make.
How to photograph a document so it passes first time
Flat surface, good daylight, no flash. Get all four corners inside the frame and make sure the whole thing is in focus — if you cannot read it on your own screen at full size, neither can we.
PDF statements straight from your banking app are better than photographs of printouts. Send the original file rather than a screenshot of it.
